14-year-old arrested by Elk Grove Police on suspicion of vehicle burglary
Elk Grove Police arrested a 14-year-old on the morning of Saturday, June 24 on suspicion of vehicle burglary.
Just as night shift patrol officers were ending their duties on Saturday, police dispatch received a call regarding an in-progress vehicle burglary in the Lyndale Circle and Spring Ridge Way area. The caller saw a person breaking into their vehicle and provided the suspect’s description as the suspect ran away after being confronted by the caller.
Responding officers located the 14-year-old suspect hiding in a nearby park. The teen had a window punch, a tool commonly used to break glass, and had pieces of glass on him.
The juvenile was arrested and transported to Juvenile Hall on 12 charges including burglary, petty theft, and possession of burglary tools (window punch). This is an on-going investigation and other charges may be added.
