After closed session on Oak Rose lawsuits, Elk Grove City Council takes no action
The Elk Grove City Council heard public comment from two speaker before their Friday afternoon closed session on the Oak Rose project in Old Town Elk Grove.

After reconvening from their 2:30 p.m. closed session meeting on two lawsuits facing the city this afternoon, the Elk Grove City Council said no action had been taken after a 60-minute discussion.

After the city council’s Wednesday night meeting, the closed session was scheduled on Thursday, September 28. During the Wednesday night meeting, Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and the city council did not follow the recommendation of city attorney Jonathan Hobbs, who advised them to approve the supportive housing project they denied in July 2022.

Instead, they postponed their decision until the October 11 Elk Grove City Council meeting. After the city’s postponement, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced the state would proceed with the fair housing lawsuit they filed in May.
