Body cam video shows dog under euthanization order biting Elk Grove Police officer
Clockwise from the upper left are images of the dog impounded by Elk Grove Aminal Services lunging at an Elk Grove Police officer who sustained a bite injury.

Last week, the Elk Grove Police and the city’s Animal Services released a body camera video (see below) of an unprovoked dog biting an officer. The biting incident on July 15 led to an order to euthanize the canine.

The July 15 incident was a follow-up to when an unprovoked dog allegedly bit a pedestrian near the owner’s residence on May 16. The victim sustained injuries that required medical treatment and reported the incident to Elk Grove Police.

Last week when the body cam video was released, the city’s Aminal Service posted a response to concerns advanced by the dog’s owner, Faray Kabir. That response can be read here.

During the September 13 Elk Grove City Council meeting, the dog’s owner emotionally appealed to the Elk Grove City Council. Kabir filed a lawsuit in federal court, which has delayed the procedure on the 15-month-old dog until September 28.

Kabir’s appeal to the Elk Grove City Council during their September 13 meeting on behalf of her dog Zeus can be viewed in the video. According to the Sacramento Bee, Kabir has spent $15,000 defending Zeus.

The police body cam video can be viewed here. The biting incident starts at the 39-minute mark.
