California Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen receives important leadership assignment
Even though she has been in the California Assembly for three weeks, it has been announced that District 10 Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen has received an important assignment.
Speaker Anthony Rendon Rendon (D-Lakewood) yesterday appointed Nguyen to his leadership team, where she will serve as his assistant Speaker pro Tempore.
“I am thankful that Speaker Rendon has appointed me to his leadership team. I am confident that serving as Assistant Speaker pro Tempore will enable me to better convey the needs of the business community, middle-class families, and disadvantaged communities to Speaker Rendon to help uplift our economy and families across the state,” Nguyen said in the appointment announcement.
As Assistant Speaker pro Tempore, Nguyen may preside over the Assembly in the Speaker’s absence. Additionally, Nguyen will attend leadership meetings and work closely with the Speaker and the Speaker pro Tempore to implement the Assembly’s session itinerary.
The Assistant Speaker pro Tempore also assists in maintaining proper decorum and order during floor sessions.
Nguyen has served on the Elk Grove City Council representing District 4 since 2017. The 10th Assembly district includes all of Elk Grove and portions of Sacramento.
