Cooper for Sacramento County Sheriff ads start appearing online

Today online advertisements for Assemblymember Jim Cooper started appearing. The following advertisement (see video below) appeared on SacBee.com.

The advertisement promoted Cooper’s law enforcement experience, victim’s advocacy and his standing as a lifelong Democrat. Cooper retired from the Sacramento Sheriff Department as a Captain in 2014 after a 30-year career.

After serving as one of Elk Grove’s original city council members and the city’s first mayor, Cooper was elected to the California Assembly in 2014. Cooper ran for sheriff in 2010 and lost to Scott Jones who has decided not to seek a fourth term and is running for Congress.

Opposing Cooper is Sacramento County Undersheriff Jim Barnes. With only two candidates in the race, the next sheriff will be elected in the June primary.
