Councilmember Suen reports on Sacramento Regional Sanitation’s ‘Harvest Water’ project

As part of his administrative report during the Wednesday, May 10 Elk Grove City Council meeting, Councilmember Darren Suen provided a brief update on the Sacramento Regional Sanitation’s “Harvest Water” project.

Regional Sanitation described the project as “a recycled water program that will provide a safe and reliable supply of tertiary-treated water to agriculture and habitat lands in southern Sacramento County.”
The agency defines recycled water as “Treated wastewater that undergoes additional, advanced treatment to make it safe for non-potable uses such as landscape irrigation.”
The project has funding of approximately $321 million, of which $290 million came from California Water Commission Proposition 1 through the Water Storage Investment Program (WSIP).
One of the project stakeholders in the City of Elk Grove. According to Suen, project groundbreaking ceremonies are on May 19.
