Dave Jones endorsed by Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte in State Senate District 8 race
Yesterday Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte announced they have endorsed Dave Jones for California State Senate District 8. Jones is facing fellow Democrat Angelique Ashby
With this endorsement, Jones has received two significant endorsements from reproductive rights groups – Planned Parenthood joins the NARAL Pro-Choice California.
In their announcement, Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte Director of Public Affairs Candelaria Vargas called Jones a “champion for reproductive freedom,” noting as California Insurance Commissioner gave women tools to protect access to reproductive services.
“Dave has a long record of fighting for equity and justice, and with reproductive rights under threat, we need leaders we can count on to stand up for our rights and expand our access to health care,” Vargas said. “Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte is proud to stand with Dave Jones for State Senate.”
Although California has among the most liberal reproductive rights of any state, the topic has become an election issue following the U.S. Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade. With that reversal, several states have or are in the process of enacting striction abortions law, including outright bans.
