Democratic Elk Grove Mayor, Vice Mayor to walk precincts for Republican candidate in hotly contest partisan race
Republican Pat Hume (left) and Darren Suen will campaign with Bobbie Singh-Allen this weekend.

Throwing aside party loyalty, two Democratic members of the Elk Grove City Council will actively campaign for a prominent Republican candidate.

Those Democratic officials, Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and Vice Mayor Darren Suen will be walking precincts for Republican Elk Grove City Councilmember Pat Hume, who is campaigning for the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors District 5. Hume is competing against Democratic Cosumnes Community Services District Director Jaclyn Moreno.

According to Hume’s posting on Facebook, aside from Singh-Allen and Suen, one person committed to the canvassing effort as of this posting. The group is meeting at 11 a.m. this Saturday at, interestingly, Don Nottoli Park.

Along with Singh-Allen and Suen, there is one other Democratic Elk Grove City Councilmember, Stephanie Nguyen. Even though Nguyen is in a close race against fellow Democrat Sacramento City Councilmember Eric Guerra for the California Assembly District 10, neither Singh-Allen nor Suen have appeared to be supporting her candidacy in the same manner they have Republican Hume.

Singh-Allen has contributed $1,300 to Republican Hume and nothing to Democratic Assembly candidate Nguyen.
