Diverse group of “Measure A Not OK” opposing $8.5 billion tax hike holding fundraiser
Even though proponents of an $8.5 billion tax on Sacramento County Consumers are well-funded and organized in their mission to pass Measure A, a group of opponents has coalesced in opposition.
Led by a group called Measure A Not OK, a diverse group of organizations opposes the tax increase. If a simple majority approves the tax of Sacramento County voters, consumers will be taxed an additional half a percent for 40 years.
The diversity of the group opposing the tax is reflected in support of groups like the Sacramento County Republican Party, Sacramento County Young Democrat club, and the Sierra Club. While the groups have a variety of reasons to oppose the tax, they agree it is not in the best economic interest of taxpayers or the environment.
Although they face an uphill battle against yes on Measure A, funded by billionaire real estate developers, the group has organized a spirited grassroots effort. They have scheduled a Measure A is not OK dinner as part of their effort.
