EGUSD Trustee Michael Vargas criticized by parent for advocacy of LGBTQ+ Pride Month proclamation

During the May 16, 2023, meeting of the Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Trustees, a parent of a student pointedly criticized a board member.

Speaking during public comment, Ms. Heidi Moore took issue with Trustee Michael Vargas for his support of a proclamation recognizing LGBQT+ Pride Month. Moore, a frequent critic of the school district and supporter of book bans, claimed Mr. Vargas’ actions were hurtful and divisive.
