At the end of the Wednesday, April 13 Elk Grove City Council meeting, the city’s homeless task force provided their first report on their activities. The task force headed by city council members Stephanie Nguyen and Pat Hume was formed last month to address homelessness in the community.

Unlike other cities, Spease noted that Elk Grove is not a full-service city and the mayor and council members are part-time.
"My husband and I are both retired from the city of Elk Grove as employees, we are both quite aware of what it looks like to try to circumvent the system."
