Elk Grove City Council members Brewer, Suen pictured with colleague Sergio Robles before his DUI arrest

Earlier this afternoon, Elk Grove District 4 City Councilmember Sergio Robles announced he was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.

A source provided information on the freshman council member’s arrest that Elk Grove News seeks to verify. However, there is other public information available.

According to the posts on the Facebook pages of District 1 Councilmember Darren Suen and District 2 Councilmember Rod Brewer, the three colleagues attended the annual AAPI Night Market held on the evening of Friday, May 19, on Capitol Mall in downtown Sacramento. Images on Brewer and Suen’s Facebook pages picture the three council members at the event.

Reportedly Robles had posted several pictures while attending the event. However, as of this afternoon, they have been deleted.

Alcoholic beverages were available for sale at the event. The event ran from 6 to 10 p.m. and required paid admission.

This afternoon Suen said he briefly saw Robles at approximately 6 p.m. as he was leaving the event. Suen said Robles was not intoxicated when they posed for a selfie.

Brewer has not commented on his encounter with Robles. Brewer and Robles also posed for a selfie.

In his announcement, Robles said an unspecified law enforcement agency arrested him on Saturday morning. This indicates at least a two-hour lag between the events closing and the earliest possible time of the arrest.

Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and Vice Mayor Kevin Spease reportedly did not attend the event.
