Arguing for a massive pay raise, Elk Grove City Councilman Sergio Robles makes nonsensical plea as he disses wealthy colleague

With the right endorsement from people like his former employer, Congressman Ami Bera (D - Sacramento), which led to a boatload of contributions, you too can win office.

Arguing for a massive pay raise, Elk Grove City Councilman Sergio Robles makes nonsensical plea as he disses wealthy colleague
Elk Grove City Councilmember threw shade at one of his city council colleagues for opposing  a 300 percent pay increase.

During the August 28 Elk Grove City Council meeting, Councilman Sergio Robles dissed one of his colleagues while he sought a 300 percent pay increase (see video below).

Given that his colleague Kevin Spease is the co-owner of a successful Ek Grove-based multi-state business with approximately 30 employees and the only person on the five-member body to oppose the pay hike, he was Robles' target.

Arguing that the pay increase was needed to enable less wealthy and younger candidates to gain office, Mr. Robles conveniently forgot to mention his electoral success in 2022.

By his standards, Robles is not wealthy. Yet, as someone about 30 years old at the time of the 2022 election who does not appear to own a residence in District 4, which he represents, he won office!

Imagine that - a young person of color winning office who is not filthy rich! How does that happen?

With the right endorsement from people like his former employer, Congressman Ami Bera (D - Sacramento), which led to a boatload of contributions, you too can win office. Even at this young age, Robles has the right political connections, which opened the door to money from contributors who will expect a return on their investment.

Given his own success, Mr. Robles' salary increase justification is nonsense.

Mr. Robles, you might fool many people with your hokum, but a few people in Elk Grove are not buying the stinky fish you are selling.
