Elk Grove experiences second hit-and-run pedestrian fatality in a week
For the second time in a week, there has been a hit-and-run collision where a pedestrian was killed by an alleged hit-and-run motorist.
Elk Grove Police report that 20-year old Micah Banks was arrested shortly after he left the scene where he is alleged to have struck a 67-year old female pedestrian on Fry Creek Way. After striking the victim who was walking on the sidewalk, Banks fled but was detained just before 3 p.m. yesterday afternoon.
Preliminary investigation suggests the vehicle veered off the road and struck the victim. The investigation is continuing.
Banks, was arrested and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on charges of Vehicular Manslaughter (Penal Code 192(c)(2)) and Hit and Run resulting in Death (Penal Code 20001 (a)).
On Wednesday, March 30 a pedestrian was struck and killed on Elk Grove Boulevard. The suspect in that fatality collision later turned themselves in to the Elk Grove Police.
The identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Traffic Bureau at (916) 478-8148.
