On July 1, Elk Grove garbage customers will pay higher fees to Republic Services, the city's contracted garbage collector.

Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and her city council will approve the higher fees during the June 12 city council meeting.

According to the notice on the city's website, garbage pick-up ratepayers will increase by three percent across the board. The new rates are shown in the chart below. Along with garbage collection, Republic Services also gathers customers recycle waste and organic waste.

The rate increase notice notes, "Solid waste service rates are based on refuse cart size and refuse cart quantity. Upon request, residents can have a total of three organics carts and three recycle carts at no additional charge."

Mayor Singh-Allen's June 12 meeting starts at 6 p.m. at Elk Grove City Hall.
