After a five-year vacancy, Elk Grove hires assistant city manager
Ms. Jaqui Guzmán will be Elk Grove's next assistant city manager.

Since Elk Grove city manager Jason Behrmann was promoted from city assistant manager to city manager in 2019, that assistant position has been vacant. Starting this December, Behrmann will have an assistant city manager.

Today, the city announced it has hired Ms. Jaqui Guzmán as the assistant city manager. Guzmán was selected after a nationwide recruitment.

Guzman is currently the deputy city manager in Sunnyvale, Calif. Before that, Guzman's 17 years of public sector experience included analyst positions in San Jose and Cupertino, Calif., and the State of California's Legislative Analyst Office.

Guzmán holds a master’s degree in Public Policy from the UCLA School of Public Affairs and a bachelor’s degree in Diplomacy and World Affairs from Occidental College.

“We are excited to welcome Jaqui to our organization,” Behrmann said in today's announcement. “She brings a wealth of knowledge, enthusiasm and unique perspectives to the position and I am confident that with her help, we will continue to raise the bar in the delivery of exceptional services to the Elk Grove community.”
