Elk Grove Man pleads to child sexual assault, found guilty of domestic violence and assault

A suspect arrested in August 2018 by Elk Grove Police who plead guilty to nine counts of sexual last week was also convicted on Tuesday of domestic violence and of assault with a shotgun and assault with a knife.

On August 19, 2018, Elk Grove police officers responded to a call and found David Capps, 52, and the victim at the scene. Officers learned that Capps held a shotgun to the victim’s head and told her it was loaded.

Additionally, he held a knife to the victim’s throat and threatened to kill her. The victim stated that Capps had strangled her to the point of near unconsciousness.

Doctors later diagnosed the victim as having suffered a fractured larynx as a result of the strangulation. During the investigation, detectives discovered that Capps sexually assaulted a child when she was 7 to 11 years old.

Capp will be sentenced on May 20. He faces up to 44 years in prison.
