This patrol vehicle has been deployed with a camera for the last three days on Sheldon Road in east Elk Grove.

Starting on Monday, October 14, Elk Grove Police have deployed an unoccupied patrol unit to address traffic concerns. This video was recorded around 8:30 a.m. on October 16.

The patrol unit was parked in a secured spot on the median of Sheldon Road, across from the Cosumnes Fire Department Station 76, and appears to have been there around the clock.

A decoy unit was recently seen on eastbound Calvine Road between Elk Grove-Florin and Power Inn roads. An unoccupied unit has also been seen on eastbound Sheldon Road between Waterman and Elk Grove-Florin roads.

One of the common complaints for residents adjacent to Sheldon Road has been about excessive speeding and racing particularly during weekend evening hours. According to the police department, as seen in the picture and video, the decoy units are equipped with "functioning cameras."
