Elk Grove reopens 2 sandbag distribution centers as another atmospheric river rolls in

With continuous rain forecasted from another atmospheric river approaching Northern California, coupled with recent record snowfall in the Sierra Nevada, for the next several days, the Central Valley and Elk Grove are under a flood watch.
With the flood watch and heavy flows expected from melting snow, the city of Elk Grove will operate two sandbag distribution outlets tomorrow, March 8.

Verified residents are limited to 10 sandbags. These are self-serve sites, so bring a shovel to fill the bags.
In addition to rain, wind gusts up to 45 mph are forecast, so there is a threat of falling trees and limbs. To report roadway flooding, downed trees, or clogged storm drains, call the Public Works Hotline at (916) 687-3005, and for downed lines or other storm-related emergencies, DIAL 9-1-1.
The flood watch is in effect until 10 a.m. Sunday, March 12.
