Elk Grove High School student arrested for alleged possession of firearm on campus

An Elk Grove High School student is in custody at Sacramento County Juvenile Hall after he was allegedly found in possession of a firearm.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, at approximately 10:30 this morning, the school district received information about a student rumored to be in possession of a firearm at the school. Sheriff deputies and Elk Grove Police officers responded to the call. 

As law enforcement officers were taking the student, he reportedly resisted and tried to pull away, and handcuffs were being applied. After a brief struggle, a search of the student's backpack led to the discovery of a loaded handgun pictured above.

The student is in custody and faces felony charges for having a loaded, unserialized firearm on a school campus and resisting arrest.
