Start Thanksgiving with the Elk Grove Gobble Wobble Family 5K |
Start your holiday out right by giving back to your community—with a fun run! Bring your family and friends out to run, walk, or wobble a 5k on Thanksgiving morning, November 28! Little turkeys 12 and under can participate in the half mile Kids’ Fun Run. All event proceeds benefit Chicks in Crisis, a non-profit 501(c)3, that offers pregnancy, parenting, adoption, and educational services. Register online. This event will generate road closures and detours on and around Longleaf Drive on Thursday morning. View the traffic advisory for details. |
Kick Off the Holidays on Main Street |
Proudly produced by the Old Town Elk Grove Foundation, the Old Town Elk Grove Dickens Street Faire is the traditional start of the Elk Grove yuletide season on Saturday, November 30. Over 125 vendors and community groups will fill Elk Grove Boulevard from 2nd Avenue to School Street. Food trucks and a free kids craft corner will fill Old Town Plaza and free holiday entertainment is available all day. Watch Santa get rescued by our trusted fire department and explore local shops, enjoy holiday treats and mingle with your friends and neighbors. At 5:00 pm, the sun sets and the vendors will close up shop, but stick around for Christmas carols, continuous live entertainment, and Story Time with Santa leading up to the Christmas Tree Lighting at 6:00 pm when Santa flips the switch to light the town Christmas tree at Walnut Street. |
Considering Life in the Fast Lane |
The City of Elk Grove, in partnership with SacRT, is working to increase mobility options for residents and visitors. The City is exploring providing high-frequency transit service to connect Elk Grove to the larger Sacramento region. You can contribute to the project by sharing your feedback on the Blue Line/Bus Rapid Transit to Elk Grove Implementation Plan (Project). Weigh in on local alignment, where stations should be located, and other station planning elements. Take the survey before if closes this Saturday, November 30. Take the Survey. |
