Elk Grove’s 2022 mayoral race made history by one measure
This year’s mayoral race between incumbent Bobbie Singh-Allen and challenger Brian Pastor was historic.
A candidate won a clear majority in a competitive race for the first time since Elk Grove voters started directly electing their mayor in 2012. Singh-Allen captured about 64 percent of the vote. While former Mayor Gary Davis captured a majority in 2014, he was unopposed. Singh-Allen achieved this because, for the first time (with the exception of 2014), there were only two candidates.
