Folsom man indicted, arrested on federal charges of child exploitation
Folsom man faces lengthy sentence
The U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of California, announced a federal indictment was unsealed last week, and a Folsom man was arrested on Friday, January 13.
William James Fitzgerald, 22, of Folsom, was arrested after a federal grand jury returned a three-count indictment against Fitzgerald. The suspect is charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of a child and one count of distribution of child pornography.
Court documents revealed that between October 2020 and May 2022, Mr. Fitzgerald exploited two minor victims for the purpose of producing visual depictions of sexually explicit conduct. In January 2022, Fitzgerald distributed child pornography using Snapchat.
The investigation into Fitzgerald’s activities was conducted by Folsom Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. If convicted, Fitzgerald faces a maximum statutory penalty of 15 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Fitzgerald is being held without bail at the Sacramento County Jail.
