Gang member sentenced for attempted murder
A person convicted of attempted murder in September was sentenced today in Sacramento Superior Court .
Erck Nevariz was sentenced by Judge James Arguelles to 15 years to life for a gang-related stabbing. According to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s office, he was also found guilty of premeditation and gang allegations.
The victim was pumping gas when Nevarez drove into the gas station and asked him if he was a gang member because of what he was wearing. Nevarez then pulled his vehicle in front of the victim to trap him, got out of his car, and stabbed the victim multiple times.
The victim was able to take control of the knife and stabbed Nevarez. Nevarez fled the scene and sought medical care for his stab wound. The victim underwent surgery for a perforated diaphragm and puncture wounds.
Nevarez is a validated gang member.
