Guerra gains breathing room for second place as Nguyen’s first place position dips in District 10 California Assembly race
Semi-final votes tallies released this afternoon by the Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections gave Democrat Sacramento City Councilmember Eric Guerra breathing room in the race for the District 10 California Assembly seat.
Guerra had 50 votes separating him from Republican Eric Rigard on Wednesday’s tallies. Guerra now has 13,445 votes for 28.22-percent while Rigard has 12,501 votes for 26.24 percent.
Holding first place is Democrat Elk Grove City Councilmember Stephanie Nguyen, with 15,580 votes for 32.7-percent. While Nguyen has held the lead since the first vote tallies were released on Tuesday, her lead weakened slightly with this afternoon’s release.
On Wednesday, Nguyen had about 34.28-percent of the total vote while Guerra had 27.2-percent. Nguyen’s lost about one and a half percent while Guerra gained one percent. Rigard’s total for third place advanced from 25.54-percent to 26.24 for almost three-quarters of one percent gain.
On Wednesday, Guerra had only 50 votes separating him from Rigard. However, that gap has grown to 944 votes.
In District 10 California Assembly race, 47,643 votes have been tabulated of the 271,053 ballots distributed, representing a turnout of 17.57-percent. Voting forecasters have estimated turnout would average about 20-percent statewide, which would indicate there could be an additional about 6.700 uncounted ballots in this race.
The next vote tally release will be at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 14
