The latest results released by Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections show Democrat Eric Guerra and Republican Eric Rigard in a virtual tie for second place in the District 10 California Assembly race.

With 29,972 votes counted in the race, Guerra has 7,561 for 26.83-percent and Rigard has 7,511 for 26.66-percent. In first place is Democrat Stephanie Nguyen who has 33.41-percent of the vote with 9,441 votes.

Although Rigard had almost no fundraising for his primary campaign and some help from the California GOP, as the only Republican in the race it appears he has secured the Republican base and drawn some independent voters. Republican voters are 19-precent of the registered voters in District 10.

The top two finishers will advance to the November election. The latest tallies were released just after midnight today and the next release will be at 4 p.m. on Friday, June 10.

According to Political Data Inc., 53,905 ballots have been submitted in this race and 28,176 votes have been tabulated. Turnout was 20-percent.
