Get in the Holiday spirit with a visit to this grand light display in Elk Grove

To view a fantastic Christmas light display in Elk Grove, look no further than the Arcadian Village neighborhood near Monterrey Trail High School. The display created by David Groza at his residence on 8486 Mainstay Court is now operating (see video below).

Mr. Groza says he starts working on his annual display months before the Holiday season and begins installation after Halloween. Groza describes the festive display, saying, "There are over 80,000 lights. Our display is a colorful theme of penguins and reindeer surrounded by lights and elements that dance to the music. The lights are synchronized to 22 songs, which provide approximately 1.5 hours of entertainment. They are controlled by a few hundred controls."

Given the complexity of the display, it is not surprising that Groza is an electrical engineer. Between this residence and an earlier one, Groza has been staging elaborate Holiday displays for 35 years.Groza's work has not gone unnoticed - it is included on the California Christmas Lights website, which highlights notable displays statewide.

The display started operating today and will run through December 31. Its hours of operation are 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 5:30 to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

On most Fridays and Saturdays, candy canes will be passed out canes upon request. There is an FM transmitter tuned to 107.9 FM, so you can see the show from the comfort of your heated vehicle.
During operating hours, speakers broadcast the music for those who want a closer look or to snap a few pictures.

Take advantage of this opportunity to get in the Holiday spirit by visiting the fun and elaborate display.
