Independent committee sends mailers for 10th District California Assembly candidate Eric Rigard
Even though he has maintained a low profile, the one Republic candidate for the 10th District California Assembly race received a shot in the arm.
In recent days, independent and Republican voters received mailers promoting the candidacy of Republican Eric Rigard. The mailer came from the California Alliance for Progress and Education.
Each mailer promotes Rigard’s conservative credentials, including opposition to tax increases, school choice, and opposition to “government-run health care.” Additionally, each piece highlights endorsements from the California Republican and Sacramento County Republican parties.
The California Alliance for Progress and Education funding is from the California Association of Realtors CAR) and the California Correctional Peace Officers Association (CCPOA). Interestingly, the CCPOA also helped fund a mailer promoting the law enforcement credential of one of Rigard’s primary opponents, Elk Grove City Council member Stephanie Nguyen.
In another interesting wrinkle, the other sponsor teaming for the Rigard mails, the CAR, has launched a multi-media attack on Nguyen. The CAR has also attacked District 5 Sacramento County Board of Supervisor candidate and former Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly.
After their initial attacks on Ly, the CAR then directed effort on Nguyen by trying the two former city council colleagues together.
Even though Rigard has raised just over $3,000 for his campaign, as the sole Republican he is considered a viable contender for second place in the June 4 primary and these mailers will certainly help his cause. If Rigard finishes second and advances, the first place winner in the June primary would be considered the overwhelming favorite in the November general election.
