Is Explore Elk Grove goofing on their Spring Break promotion?
No need to worry about tourist created traffic jams!

When college students and families consider spring break vacations, some prime choices include a snow skiing trip or a beach destination. Or an outdoor adventure in a national park.
With this reference, it was surprising to open Explore Elk Grove's recent email. Typically, the travel group cooperative has promotions centered on longstanding events like the Harvest or Western Festivals.
This time, they made a big swing and promoted the city as a spring break destination. Here is what they said:
The Countdown to Spring Break Is ON!
The perfect place to spend a group getaway or solo vacation is within reach and we are excited to invite you to explore our city. Elk Grove is conveniently accessible from Highway 99 and Interstate 5, and only 25 miles from Sacramento International Airport. What are you waiting for? Plan your visit to our culturally diverse, family-friendly, and vibrant community in Northern California.
The city is a fine place to live, raise a family, and establish a residency for other attractions throughout Northern California. But as a spring break destination, that is a stretch.
We can't fault the travel group for taking a big swing. After all, you never know until you float the trial balloon.
On the plus side for residents, we never have to worry about the city being overrun with tourist traffic during spring break or any time of the year. Now, if the zoo gets built, that's another matter!
