It’s all laughs when conducting the people’s business for Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen
One distinguishing habit of Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen when she is conducting a city council meeting is her bellowing laugh. While we all can enjoy laughter at the appropriate times during an official meeting, the Mayor seems to laugh at innocuous comments (see video below) from the public she is supposed to serve and her city council peers.
In the video below, you can hear Singh-Allen’s laughter. Interestingly, Wednesday’s laugh “performance” by Singh-Allen was relatively tame compared to other city council meetings.
Her laughter at inopportune times and her lack of soberness suggest conducting the City of Elk Grove business is all a big laugh fest. Unfortunately, since Singh-Allen became Mayor, one of her peers, Councilmember Darren Suen, now the longest-tenured city council member, has parroted her behavior, albeit not as frequently.
To his credit, Vice Mayor Kevin Spease hasn’t joined the Singh-Allen laugh fest. Singh-Allen and Spease joined the city council in December 2020.
As for the two new members, council members Rod Brewer and Sergio Robles have yet to participate in this unprofessional and unsober behavior regularly displayed by Singh-Allen. If they want to be taken seriously as people interested in governing and not members of the Singh-Allen laugh fest, they ought to take heed.
