Kevin Spease the first Elk Grove City Council member to file economic interest disclosure
His statement was recorded with the Elk Grove City Clerk's office last month.
California elected officials and select public employees must disclose their financial interests, as state law requires. The disclosures are made on the Fair Political Practices Commission California Form 700 - Statement of Economic Interest.
Elk Grove District 3 Councilmember Kevin Spease was the first of the five-member body to file his statement. His statement was recorded with the Elk Grove City Clerk's office last month.
The most prominent of Spease's entries is his ownership of a business valued at over $1 million. That business is co-owned with his wife, Angela Spease, who is also an elected official on the Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Directors.
Spease's statement is noteworthy because of the timing. His four city council colleagues typically file their disclosures by or just before the April 1 deadline.
Unlike his colleagues and a few city hall executives, Mr. Spease has also eschewed free meals, travel, or entertainment from private entities since his 2020 election. Last year, Spease voted against the 300 percent pay increase (see video below) Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and her city council gave themselves, saying most of the activities the council members are engaged in are for parochial political purposes.
