In a legal action filed April 2 in Sacramento Superior Court, local resident Naima Abboushi is suing the City of Elk Grove and city employee Eric Aguirre following a December 2024 traffic collision.

The lawsuit, filed by attorney Anthony M. Ontiveros of the law office of Clayeo C. Arnold, alleges that Aguirre negligently operated a city-owned 2020 Ford Explorer, causing it to collide with Abboushi's 2022 Toyota Camry at the intersection of Laguna Springs Drive and Laguna Boulevard.

According to court documents, the incident occurred on December 6, 2024, while Aguirre was a city of Elk Grove vehicle. The complaint alleges both Aguirre and the city were negligent—Aguirre in the operation of the vehicle and the City of Elk Grove in its ownership, maintenance, and entrustment of the vehicle.

The lawsuit claims Abboushi suffered injuries that caused "physical pain, mental suffering, and loss of enjoyment of life." Additionally, the plaintiff reports incurring medical expenses and wage losses as a result of the collision. The complaint also seeks compensation for vehicle damage and loss of use of her vehicle.

The complaint does not specify an exact dollar amount for damages sought, stating only that damages exceed $35,000 and will be determined "according to proof at the time of trial." The plaintiff has demanded a jury trial for all causes of action outlined in the complaint.

The case has been assigned to the Sacramento Superior Court, though no initial hearing date has been announced.
