Elk Grove City Council urged to condemn Lt. Gov. Kounalakis, called as threatening to democracy as Trump’s insurrectionists
Elk Grove resident Kirk Thompson speaking to the Elk Grove City Council.

During public comment on non-agenda items at tonight’s Elk Grove City Council meeting, a resident urged Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and her councilmen to issue a proclamation condemning California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis.

Kirk Thompon, a frequent speaker at city council meetings, urged the action after Kounalakis said former president Donald Trump should not appear on the California primary ballot.

In his assessment, Thompson said the Lt. Gov. posed more threat to American democracy than the January 6, 2021 Donald Trump-inspired failed coup d’état. Mr.Thomapson also swiped at Gov. Gavin Newsom when he feigned a faux pas calling him Patrick Bateman, the central character in American Psycho.
