Luttrell abruptly resigns from Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Directors, vacancy to be filled by appointment
After serving over eight years, Jim Lutrell (far right) resigned from the Cosumnes Community Services Board of Directors on March 13.

As reported earlier today, Mr. Jim Luttrell abruptly resigned his position on the Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Directors at the adjournment of a special meeting on March 13.

In a press release today, the CCSD announced that the four remaining directors decided to fill the vacancy by appointment in a special meeting held yesterday. The CCSD posted conflicting information regarding the scheduled special meeting and clarified in today's press release that it was held last night.

Luttrell was first elected as the Division 3 representative in 2016 and was unchallenged last year and, by statute, was automatically reappointed to a four-year term. There was no reason provided for the voluntary separation, and a CCSD spokesperson said Luttrell did not submit a resignation letter.

Under state law, the person appointed will fill the position until November 2026, when the remaining two years of the four-year term will be filled by election.

For those interested in seeking the appointment, the CCSD said, "Individuals must submit a letter of interest to the District Office at 8820 Elk Grove Blvd. by Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. The Board intends to appoint a new member at its regular meeting on April 16. The individual appointed will serve until the next regularly scheduled election, which will take place on November 3, 2026."
