Challenger Lynn Wheat invites Bobbie Singh-Allen to Elk Grove mayoral policy forum

Challenger says "I hope you are supportive of this opportunity for the public to meet the candidates"

Elk Grove mayoral challenger Lynn Wheat has challenged the incumbent two-term mayor to a policy forum. That challenge was issued on Friday, September 6 by Ms. Wheat to Ms. Singh-Allen in an email that was also copied to several media sources, including Elk Grove News.

The email said the following:

Mayor Singh-Allen,

As a mayoral candidate, I would like to invite you to participate in a public forum moderated by the primary news outlets that cover Elk Grove. I propose that we conduct the forum one early evening of the week between September 30 – October 7th.

There has not been a proper candidates forum in Elk Grove since before COVID and I believe the voters would appreciate the opportunity to get better acquainted with their Mayoral candidates.

I have forwarded a copy of this invitation to the Sacramento Bee, Elk Grove Citizen, and Elk Grove News to help coordinate the logistics that this event would require. I hope you are supportive of this opportunity for the public to meet the candidates and vice versa.

Could you please reply back to me by September 10th so we can start planning?

Sincerely,

Lynn Wheat

No further details of when and where the forum could be held were made available, but the email said Wheat and Singh-Allen could agree to terms.

Singh-Allen has a large social media following, about a quarter million dollars in campaign funds and is the presumed front runner. Wheat has a commanding knowledge of policy, and a forum could expose Singh-Allen's policy weaknesses thus making it unlikely she would agree to expose her vulnerabilities.
