Congresswoman Doris Matsui tells constituents in video message 'Social Security is your money' and 'Donald Trump will not win'
During the 2006 midterm, Democrats wrested control of the House of Representatives primarily based on George W. Bush's Social Security privatization scheme

Congresswoman Doris Matsui (D - Calif) released a video today promising to fight what many critics call President Donald Trump's administration's effort to dismantle Social Security. Matsui represents California's Seventh Congressional District, which includes portions of Sacramento and Elk Grove.
In her two-minute-plus video (see below), Matsui reinforced the understanding that "Social Security is your money" and promised to fight efforts viewed as damaging the popular program.
"Donald Trump will not win," Matsui said as she closed her presentation.
Not coincidental to the Matsui video release, MSNBC reported today that as the Democratic Party focuses on Social Security, former President Joe Biden will join former Social Security Administrator Martin O'Malley at a speaking engagement. Biden and O'Malley will be among several Democratic speakers at the Advocates, Counselors, and Representatives for the Disabled conference in Chicago.
The last significant change to Social Security was proposed in February 2005, when former President George Bush floated the idea of privatizing the popular program. At the time, Bush and fellow Republicans had majorities in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
During the 2006 midterm, Democrats wrested control of the House of Representatives primarily based on Bush's Social Security privatization scheme, which died quickly. Social Security remains popular and is regarded as a well-run program. Some have argued that the recent efforts by Trump associates like Elon Musk, who calls the program a Ponzi scheme and is curtailing services, are an effort to crumble the program and justify privatization.
Although President Trump has repeatedly said he would not make changes ot Social Security or Medicare, as we have repeatedly seen, he is not a man of his word.
After all, Wall Street interests are drooling like dogs to get their paws on over $1.2 trillion in annual donations to Social Security, and Trump loves nothing more than helping billionaires at the expense of regular people.
