Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, Elk Grove issues proclamation for Sikh Awareness & Appreciation Month

As part of recognizing communities in its diverse population, Elk Grove Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and the City of Elk Grove issued a proclamation recognizing Sikh Awareness and Appreciation Month.

The proclamation ceremony was held at the Wednesday, November 9, 2022, Elk Grove City Council meeting.

Of significance, Mayor Singh-Allen was the first directly elected Sikh mayor of an American city in 2020. Singh-Allen succeeded former Mayor Steve Ly, who was coincidentally the first directly elected Hmong-American mayor in 2016.
