Moreno, Hume announce endorsements in Sacramento BOS District 5 race

Two of the three candidates for the District 5 seat of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors announced significant endorsements in recent days. The candidates, Cosumnes Community Services District Director Jaclyn Moreno and Elk Grove City Councilmember Pat Hume have secured endorsements from Sacramento Area Firefighters Local 522 and the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce Political Action Committee, respectively. In offering the chamber’s political action committee’s endorsement, chair Chelsea Minor said, “Pat has been a champion for the business community, especially our small businesses.” As a Director of the Cosumnes Community Services District, Moreno oversees the Cosumnes Fire Department and has enjoyed support from firefighters since her 2018 election. In their endorsement, Local 522 president Trevor Jamison said, “Jaclyn’s understanding of the issues facing this community and her strong support for public safety led to our enthusiastic endorsement of her candidacy for Supervisor.”Along with Hume and Moreno, a third Elk Grove-based candidate, former Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly, will compete in the June primary to replace Don Nottoli, who has decided against seeking an eighth four-year term. Although the seat is non-partisan, Moreno is a member of the Democratic Party, Hume a Republican, and Ly a no party preference. If none of the three candidates break the 50-percent threshold in the June primary, the top finishers will face off during the November general election.
