Moreno issues statement, concedes to Hume in hard-fought Sacramento County Board of Supervisors District 5 race

With today’s vote tallies from Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections, Jaclyn Moreno has conceded to Pat Hume. With less than 2,000 uncounted votes countywide, Hume beat Moreno 46,378 votes to 46,050 for the District 5 seat on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors.

Moreno said she contacted Hume this afternoon to congratulate him and offer her concession.

Moreno said in her statement to supporters, “I know this outcome isn’t what we all had hoped for, but I want to reiterate just how amazing this campaign has been. With a united vision of a better Sacramento County, we fought for our shared values of climate, social, economic, and reproductive justice.”

Moreno had served one four-year term on the Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Directors, and Hume was a four-term Elk Grove City Council member. When Hume leaves the city council in the coming days, he will have been the longest-serving council member in Elk Grove’s 22-year history.

Hume will replace Don Nottoli, who served as the District 5 representative on the Sacramento Board of Supervisors for 28 years. Nottoli has not announced any political plans following his departure from the Board of Supervisors.

As of this posting, Hume has not issued a statement.
