Moreno mailer says ‘Pat Hume can’t be trusted’ and asserts he is supported by extremist group
In a shot across the bow, Sacramento County Board of Supervisor District 5 candidate Jaclyn Moreno assailed her opponent as untrustworthy and supported by an extremist group.
Moreno, a Democratic Cosumnes Community Services District Director, made the accusations against her Republican opponent, Elk Grove City Councilmember Pat Hume. The mailer appears to have been sent to Democratic voters in District 5.
While one side of the mailer notes Moreno’s Sacramento Bee and Planned Parenthood endorsements and her support of Proposition 1, the other side makes accusations against Hume.
Moreno points to Folsom, Calif-based American Council’s endorsement of Hume. The mailer says that the group, which is called extremist, “celebrated the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe.”
The mailer also notes, with a QR code link to a video, where Hume has refused to answer a question on reproductive rights at a Women’s League of Voters of Sacramento County candidate forum last month. Hume has repeatedly dodged questions on reproductive rights and his position on the January 6, 2021, Washington D.C. insurrection.
Interestingly, Elk Grove Democratic Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen and Vice Mayor Darren Suen have bucked party orthodoxy and endorsed Hume.
