Moreno reports fundraising results in bid for Board of Supervisor’s District 5 bid

Earlier this week, Cosumnes Community Services District Director and District 5 Sacramento County Board of Supervisors candidate Jaclyn Moreno reported fundraising activities for the six months ending December 31.

Moreno, first elected to the CCSD in 2018, reported cash contributions of $27,798 and nonmonetary valued at $807. Her ending cash balance is $49,891, with an outstanding loan of $7,500.While Moreno received mostly individual contributions, among those supporters were political heavyweights in Sacramento area politics. Notably, Moreno received donations of $250, which is the limit in Sacramento County in non-election years, from the following organizations:

  • Cement Mason’s Local 400
  • International Union of Elevator Constructors Local 8
  • Los Rios Federation of Teachers Political Action Fund
  • Northern California Carpenters Regional Council
  • Operating Engineers Union Local 3
  • Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 447
  • Professional Engineers in California
  • Sacramento Area Fire Fighters Local 522
  • Sacramento Central Labor Council
  • Sacramento County Attorney’s Association
  • Sheet Metal Workers Local 104
  • United Food & Commercial Workers
  • United Public Employees

Although the Supervisor’s position is officially a non-partisan election, as in many local races in California, most candidates are identified with major parties. Moreno is running as a Democratic against Republican Elk Grove City Councilmember Pat Hume and former Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly, who resigned from the Democratic Party and is a no party preference.Reflecting the partisan nature of this contest and the battle for party control on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, Moreno has drawn financial support from several current and former Democratic officeholders including the following:Sacramento Mayor Darrell SteinbergSacramento City Councilmembers Angelique Ashby and Mai VangFolsom Rancho Cordova School District Trustee Chris ClarkSMUD Director Dave TamayoSMUD Director Gregg FishmanSMUD Director Rob KerthSan Juan Unified School District Trustee Zima CreasonCCSD Director Orlando FuentesSacramento County Office of Education Trustee Karina Talamantes
