Police believe speed was a contributing factor

A Friday night collision on Elk Grove Boulevard involving two vehicles and a motorcycle could have been caused by speed and possible street racing, according to Elk Grove Police.

According to police reports, officers responded to the 4600 block of Elk Grove Boulevard on Friday, June 23, around 8 p.m. Initial reports indicated two vehicles were possibly engaging in a race prior to the collision.

Officers discovered two vehicles and a motorcycle extensively damaged and engulfed in flames. Fortunately, the individuals involved, including the occupants of the vehicles and the motorcycle rider, sustained only minor injuries.

Elk Grove Police traffic detectives are investigating the collision. Police say, “At this early stage of the investigation, it is premature to confirm whether the vehicles were indeed racing; however, speed is believed to have played a role.”
