Northern California man sentenced to over 15 years for child sex exploitation

A Northern California Man was sentenced on Tuesday, September 19, after pleading guilty of sexual exploitation of a child.

James Dean Miller, 54, of Yuba City, received 15 years and eight months in prison in U.S. District Court in Sacramento.

Miller pleaded guilty to one count in April 2022 for the March 17, 2018, surreptitious video production of a naked child and still images depicting himself engaged in sexually explicit conduct with the child while she slept. He subsequently possessed this child sexual abuse material over a period of several months.

Additionally, Miller was convicted of state charges of unlawful sexual penetration of an unconscious victim in 2018. Upon his release from state custody, Miller was transferred to federal custody for federal prosecution.

This case was the product of an investigation by the Federal Bureau Investigation and the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise N. Yasinow prosecuted the case.
