A press release issued yesterday afternoon by the governor's office said that Gov. Gavin Newsom and California Attorney General Rob Bonta will hold a news conference today providing an update on the fair housing lawsuit against Elk Grove.

Although the press release did not give specifics, it said the following:

"Governor Newsom and Attorney General Bonta will hold a joint press conference to provide an update on the state's lawsuit against the city of Elk Grove. Read more about the action Governor Newsom and Attorney General Bonta have taken to hold Elk Grove accountable." 

Given that the statement did not mention a settlement or include Elk Grove officials like Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, could be interpreted that the state's lawsuit against the city will continue.

Furthermore, if the lawsuit continues, the city's settlement with Oak Rose developer Excelerate Housing could be in jeopardy.
