Pat Hume avoids answering question about reproductive rights

Pat Hume did not directly answer a question about women’s reproductive rights.

During a candidate forum this afternoon, Sacramento County District 5 Board of Supervisor Pat Hume refused to state his position on women’s reproductive rights.

The League of Women Voters of Sacramento County conducted the forum at the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors chamber in downtown Sacramento. The discussion was moderated by Ms. Paula Lee of the LWV, who asked that and other questions.

While Moreno said she steadfastly defends women’s reproductive rights, Hume said it is not an issue in California. After Hume responded, Moreno forcefully came back and said his unwillingness to state his position on reproductive rights in this or any format was problematic and angering.

Hume and Moreno are seeking to fill the seat held by outgoing Supervisor Don Nottoli. Hume is an Elk Grove City Councilmember, and Moreno serves on the Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Supervisors.
