On Friday, January 27, Rep. Doris Matsui (CA-07) was voted the ranking Democratic member of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communication and Technology.

“I am honored to be voted Ranking Member of the Communications and Technology Subcommittee. As Vice Chair of the Subcommittee during the past two Congresses, I am proud of what Democrats have been able to accomplish, and I look forward to building on that progress,” Masui said. “I am ready to find common ground to promote innovation and equity in technology.

Congresswoman Matsui co-authored the CHIPS Act, legislation that secured $52.7 billion of funding to restore semiconductor manufacturing back to American soil. She also co-authors the Digital Equity Foundation Act, legislation that would establish a nonprofit foundation to leverage public and private investments to make critical progress on digital equity, digital inclusion, and digital literacy.

“As Ranking Member, I will fight for policies that meet the needs of the modern economy and solve the problems of the future,” Matsui said. “To keep the U.S. at the forefront of wireless communication, I will work to ensure the federal government is a driving force in maintaining a healthy spectrum pipeline.”

The House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communication and Technology is chaired by Republican Bob Latta (OH – 05). Matsui’s other committee assignments and caucus memberships can be viewed here.
