Sacramento Filipino PAC makes endorsements for Elk Grove-centric, other races

In commemorating Filipino History Month, the Sacramento Filipino Political Action Committee issued endorsements in several area races, including those with Elk Grove ties.

In announcing their endorsement, the PAC said, “to kick off Filipino American History Month, we are proud to announce our inaugural list of endorsed candidates for the 2022 General Election.” The group said every Sacramento-area candidate received an application, and their endorsements were based on those who responded and a follow-up interview.

Among those endorsed by the group include candidates State Senate District 8, Dave Jones; Assembly District 10, Eric Guerra; Sacramento County Board of Supervisors District 5, Jacklyn Moreno; and Elk Grove Unified School District Board of Trustees Area 2, Michael Vargas.

A critical constancy, especially in close races, Filipino Americans are about 10 percent of Elk Grove’s population.

Other candidates endorsed include Rob Bonta, the first Filipino American California Attorney General; Paula Villescaz, State Senate District 6; Dave Tamayo, SMUD Director Ward 6; Porsche Middleton, District 5 Citrus Heights City Council; and Rosanna Herber, SMUD Director Ward 4.

On their Facebook page, the PAC said they believe “that each of these candidates represents the values, support the issues, and promotes the advancement of the Filipino community of the Sacramento region. We look forward to working with all of them in their respective roles, and we invite you to join us in supporting them.”
