Sacramento suspect arrested by Elk Grove Police in hit-and-run pedestrian fatality
A suspect is in custody at the Sacramento County Jail following a Wednesday early morning hit-and-run incident that resulted in the fatality of a pedestrian in Elk Grove.
Elk Grove Police arrested Michael D. Brown, 54, of Sacramento, in the incident that killed a 62-year-old male on Stockton Blvd. just north of the Sky River casino. Brown was arrested at his North Sacramento residence.
Brown was charged with Hit and Run resulting in Death (Penal Code 20001 (b)(2)) and Driving under the Influence of a Drug (Vehicle Code 23152 (f), Violation of Parole (Penal Code 3056), and in addition, Brown had an active warrant out for his arrest for Driving under the Influence of a Drug (Vehicle Code 23152 (f).
According to Elk Grove Police, Brown and his vehicle were located after traffic cameras, and video surveillance cameras from the Elk Grove Auto Mall led to the identification of possible vehicles. Police located the vehicle, which had been covered to hide the damage from the collision, and Brown, who reportedly was impaired when contacted.
Wednesday’s incident happened around 5:15 a.m. Brown is ineligible for bail and will be arraigned on Monday, November 29.
The victim has not been identified by the Sacramento County Coroner.
