On MSNBC’s March 20, 2023, edition of Morning Joe, there was a report on a lawsuit filed against three social media companies.

The lawsuit was filed by the San Mateo County, Calif. School District and seeks damages from three social media companies – Snapchat, TikTok, and YouTube. The county school district seeks to have the three companies declared a public nuisance.

Watch the segment to hear from the school superintendent and their attorney. The question worth asking are big tech companies, with their powerful and influential social media platforms behaving in the same way as big tobacco.

According to information prepared by the school district, if voters approve the bond, parcels will be assessed at $34 per $100,000 of value.
