Campaign contributions dried up for Elk Grove City Councilmember Sergio Robles following DUI arrest
Following Elk Grove City Councilmember Sergio Robles’ May 2023 DUI arrest, campaign contributions have dried up. That is the case for the first term District 4 council member based on financial disclosures.
According to his California Form 460 filed with the Elk Grove City Clerk yesterday, Mr. Robles received $2,926 ($26 in non-monetary contributions) for six months ending December 31, 2023. During the first six months of 2023, Robles generated $10,538 in donations.
Robles’ significant contributions in the reporting period include $250 from the California Real Estate Political Action Committee. The balance of his contributions, which included one for $100 from Elk Grove Planning Commissioner Juan Fernandez, were from individuals.
Elk Grove Police arrested Robles after officers found him asleep in a vehicle in an Elk Grove shopping center parking lot. He admitted to drunk driving during a city council meeting (see video below) but has refused to say he was arrested by saying police cited him.
Before the drunk driving incident, Mr. Robles, who worked for Congressman Ami Bera at the time, frequently posted social media videos of himself consuming alcohol. Since the arrest, Robles has left Bera’s employ and refrained from postings that can be described as frat boy-like behavior.
